As is tradition, Ebit/Nielsen has released the results of its biannual Webshoppers report. With promising data, this edition shows the growth of national e-commerce and presents the main aspects of the sector in recent months.

40th Webshoppers: E-commerce grows 12% in the first half of 2019
According to the report, e-commerce conduit china a 12% growth in sales in the first half of 2019, compared to the same period in 2018. This growth represented a revenue of R$26.4 billion for e-commerce.

In relation to the volume of orders, the first half of 2019 recorded R$65.2 million in orders placed, totaling an increase of 20%.

New consumers
Part of this growth is due to the increase in new consumers in e-commerce. Around 5.3 million consumers made their first purchase in e-commerce in the first half of 2019, representing a total of 18.1% of consumers.

Compared to the same period in 2018, these numbers represent an increase of 7% more consumers in e-commerce, for a total of 29.4 million customers.

Sales by region
Webshoppers also provided data on sales in each region of the country. Following the trend of recent years, the southeast remains relevant for national e-commerce, concentrating revenues of R$14.9 billion in the sector, registering a growth of 9%.
